Quick answer
Same-day business funding is possible for smaller unsecured amounts and for $20k to $250k secured on property, once the file is complete. It depends on enquiring early on a business day, linking bank statements on the first call, every signer being available to e-sign and having a clear invoice or purpose. Missing any one of those usually pushes funding to the next business day.

Same-day business loans are possible. They’re also widely misunderstood. Same-day funding doesn’t mean any business, any amount, any time. It means that for the right loan type, with the file ready and the timing right, money can land in your account the same business day you enquire.
This page sets out exactly when that’s realistic and what you need to make it happen.
When same day is possible
| Route | Amount | Same day possible when |
|---|---|---|
| Unsecured loan | Smaller amounts | Statements linked, signers ready, invoice in hand |
| Caveat or second mortgage | $20,000 to $250,000 | Title, value, owners and signers all sorted |
| Larger property-secured loan | Up to $5,000,000 | Possible within 24–48 hours instead |
Larger unsecured amounts often take a day or two longer because the lender looks more closely. Larger property loans usually need a valuation and more title work.
The same-day checklist
Every item missing from this list pushes funding back, often to the next business day:
- Enquire early. Morning enquiries on a business day give the lender time to assess, issue documents and release funds before transfer cut-offs.
- Link your bank statements on the first call. Online banking access, ready to connect.
- Have every director available. Each one needs photo ID and the ability to e-sign that day.
- Know the purpose. A tax invoice, quote or contract, ideally with the supplier’s bank details.
- Know your ATO position. Lodged BAS and a current portal statement.
- For property: the address, a realistic value, the current loan balance and everyone on the title, all reachable.
“24-hour” business loans
You’ll see “24-hour” used a lot. In practice it usually means by the next business day. Funds move on business days through bank transfer systems, so a Friday evening enquiry rarely means Saturday funds. If your deadline is Monday morning, aim to have the file complete by Friday morning.
Who usually qualifies
Same-day unsecured funding tends to suit:
- Businesses trading six months or more, with steady deposits.
- BAS lodged and any tax debt on a plan.
- No recent defaults or dishonours.
- A clear, one-off purpose with an invoice.
If any of those aren’t true, property security makes same-day funding far more realistic, because the lender relies on the property and the exit plan more than the paperwork. See property-secured business loans.
An illustrative example
A Sunshine Coast café’s coffee machine dies on a Thursday morning. A replacement costs $16,500 and the supplier can install it Friday if paid that day. The café has traded four years, its BAS is current and the owner links statements at 9:30am. With the supplier’s invoice sent and the owner the only director, the unsecured lender approves by early afternoon and pays the supplier directly that day. Had the enquiry come in at 4pm, the same loan would likely have settled Friday morning. Illustrative only.
What happens on the day
A typical same-day file runs something like this. You enquire in the morning and someone calls you within a short time. On that call, you link online banking and send ID and the invoice. The lender’s credit team reviews the statements and runs the credit check you’ve agreed to. If approved, loan documents are sent by email for e-signing. Once every signer has signed, the lender releases funds, often straight to the supplier. Every step is quick on its own; the day is lost when one of them waits for a person who isn’t available. That’s why the checklist above matters more than the lender you choose.
When same day isn’t the right goal
Same-day funding is valuable when waiting costs more than the extra price of speed. If the deadline is a week away, a slightly slower option may cost less. If you’re borrowing for something long-term, same-day short-term money can be the wrong structure entirely. Our guide to the real cost of borrowing in a hurry helps you weigh it.
Keep it safe
Pressure to sign immediately, requests for an upfront fee or a refusal to show the total cost are red flags. A legitimate same-day lender moves quickly but still gives you the contract to read. Take ten minutes. It’s worth it.
Aim for today
Tell us what you need, how much and what’s ready. Asking doesn’t touch your credit file, your details aren’t sent to a dozen lenders, and one real person reads it and calls you. Answer accurately and early in the day, and same-day funding has its best chance. Start your enquiry or check your route with the route planner.
Frequently asked questions
What time do I need to apply for same-day funding?
As early in the business day as possible. Bank transfer cut-offs mean late-afternoon approvals often settle the next morning.
Can 24-hour business loans happen overnight?
Funds generally move on business days. 'Within 24 hours' usually means by the next business day, not overnight or on weekends.
Which businesses qualify for same-day loans?
Usually trading businesses with six months or more of steady banking, current BAS and clean recent credit, or any business with property equity and a clear exit.
Is a same-day loan more expensive?
Often. Lenders price for speed and lighter paperwork. Compare the total cost with what waiting would cost you.
